Boggy Botanics

This past July was wet.  And bleak.  As in we had only had about 11 hours of sunshine (not daylight, but actual sunbeams hitting the ground) in the first week of the month.  Oh, and flooding. Oi.

On one of these rather gloomy days, Matthew and I went and had some fun at the Botanical Gardens and in the midst of bumble bees and ducklings, life didn't seem so miserable!

If you don't have botanical gardens to go to, you can scroll (ha! Get it? Scroll instead of stroll) through these photos:

Foliage and weird pine cone thingies...

... that are taller than I am!

This spring was sadly lacking in duckling - so sighting these was really fun!

My first ever sighting of a moorhen chick.

The ducklings go exploring.

A bumblebee bumbling.

I liked all the colours of the herbs behind Matthew.  This is the longest hedge of this particular variety.  I just can't remember which variety it is...

Tree doorway!

I thought this was a really good shot of this little guy's wings. :)

Busy as a . . .

A bit of fairyland.

Soon upon exiting fairyland we entered floodland...
