Things in Paris that make me smile

In a city with a population of 2+ million, a girl is bound to find a few things that make her smile.  :)  From architecture to graffiti, from flowers to interestingly translated signage, and a few sneaky photos of the young population in action -- here are a few of the things that brought smiles and delight to my face:

Window boxes in Monmartre

Sunset on red brick.

Chimney pots and dormer windows.

The exquisite blues in the stained glass windows of La Sainte Chapelle.

The soaring spire and 'twiddly bits' (precise architectural terminology!) of La Sainte Chapelle.

Floor tiles in La Sainte Chapelle

Les jeunes monsieurs playing on post boxes.  :)

The giant doors of L'Orangerie

The view from the top of La Musée d'Orsay

L'Opéra Garnier - Home of the Phantom of the Opera!!

The hall of mirrors inside l'Opéra Garnier.  Apparently modelled on the one at Versailles.

If you cannot read the wee plaque: 'Loge du Fantôme de l'Opéra'

Lovelocks on the Pont des Arts.

Beehives in the Jardins Luxembourg!

Balconies, shutters, harled rooves - this way of building needs to be re-instated!!

Statues outside La Musée d'Orsay.

Matthew squashing Alberta on the Seine-side map of the world.

Communal chalk art along the Seine.

Hôtel de Ville (aka City Hall)

Generally any church in Paris is fabulous.

The tiles in Matthew's front entry.  Also the sight of my exposed feet!

Metro stations that still retain the édicules of Hector Guimard.

The tricouleur, English graffiti expressing Paris' status as 'La Ville d'Amour'

Scot Charles Rennie Mackintosh-esque doors in Monmartre.

The wee Monmartre choo-choo!

Clever advertising space!

Thank goodness I wasn't wearing any 'extravagant informal clothes' in Église St-Pierre!!

Astérix et Obélix!!

Other tourists!  Don't touch the pigeons!!

A store with (almost) my name! (Jennyfer)
