Ain't No Party Like a Jubilee Party...

In early June, Britain celebrated Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee with flotillas, street parties, bunting, shop window displays and more.  Some of the New College community were brave enough to endure my and Catherine's cooking and joined us in "partying like 60 year olds."  Here are a few snapshots of the festivities I saw and was involved in:

Shop windows in Red, White & Blue!

Union Jack colours!

Bunting!  I love bunting!

This Charity shop (Salvation Army)had one of my favourite displays because they had old knick knacks for sale as well!
Materialise.  They sewed that bunting!

I did a workshop at Materialise (see above) where we sewed our own Union Jack cushions!

The students flats even get in the spirit.

Cuthberts had a lot of fun with the price.  :)
Another Salvation Army with a brilliant display!

Catherine getting ready to hang the bunting.

Catherine being heckled by her Scottish neighbour for being a monarchist.

Yes, the BBC weather girl was wearing a Union Jack tiara and co-ordinating wardrobe.

Catherine's bunting-hung flat.

Could not resist buying these flowers.

The spread.

Digging in!

Most of the gang.

I particularly enjoy Anna and Matthew's expressions...

Look!  We're Jubilee colours as well!

My Jubilee cake creation (thanks, Jamie Oliver!).

Punch bowl!

I think we tired Buckley out.
There she is, the woman of the hour!  (More like the woman of  60 years).

The whole fam.

Mr. Buckley woke up and joined in the festivities. :)

Watching the Jubilee concert the next day with the Gessners! Strawberries and Union Jack paper plates!

As you can see - I had a great weekend.  After all, there was bunting and an excuse to dress up.  What more could a girl ask for?
